The Zoo In My Wardrobe

Posted onOctober 3, 2012

It’s safe to say that when it comes to dresses I love love LOVE patterns. And the best patterns are those that live life on the wild side – my animal print pieces. Leopard print is my weakness, but I also have a few zebras lurking in my wardrobe too…

And now I can add a few more animals to my huge collection courtesy of Pinup Girl Clothing – dogs, rabbits, lions and horses, and cats!

This first dress is theZooeyin circus print, size 2XL. Apologies for the ‘I-must-get-it-out-of-the-wrapping’ fabric and face!

Bridal Gifts is a little longer than I anticipated, but that is by no means a bad thing when it comes to my legs! The bust area is a tiny bit small on me and puckers rather like the Vamp does. The fixed waist detail is slightly large on me, and I will no doubt try to work out how to add a belt to the dress when I wear it again! I’m not usually one for peachy colours, but the black detailing helps give it a little attitude and it will look perfect with tights this winter. The straps are adjustable which is good for my broad shoulders, and the cross over detailing is a cute touch, although it is one that won’t be seen as I am never without a bolero!

The next furry creature that I got my hands on was this f(el)ine number – thecat print Nettiin 2XL.

What can I say about Netti that can’t be seen? The print is wicked, the colours are awesome, the neckline is perfect, the length is spot on and it goes with my red accessories! I even woke my boyfriend up to show him this and he sleepily announced ‘sexy, wear it next time we go out’ – my harshest critic has spoken! it also has adjustable straps which is extremely useful.

The bolero is from eBay – clickhereto purchase. The belt is second hand, also from eBay, clickherefor similar pieces.

A few yours ago if you’d have told me that one day I’d have a wardrobe filled with cute animal print dresses I would have shaken my head at you and sneered, as I selected which pair of baggy jeans I would wear that day with my platform trainers. These days I prefer to pick items that I find gorgeous to look at and flattering to my shape and size. I know the magazines say that big girls should wear dark shapeless items, a subject I touch on a lot, but I for one will not be giving my beauties up for adoption in favour of dull sacks any time soon. In fact, I would love to create some sort of pin up inspired line for ladies like me who struggle to find beautiful form flattering clothes in plus size stores. Leave me a comment and let me know if you would be interested in getting your hands on some plus size gorgeous pieces as I am currently thinking about giving it a go and would love to hear your feedback.

Absolutely love the blue dress! So flattering! Don’t get me wrong I love a great cleavage dress but some times it’s just not the right place for the girls to be peeking out! And the bolero is perfect for it! I could see me wearing this or anything you would and will design for us well endowed girls! You just have the right eye for it! Now just make sure we can order it from the states and I’m sure you’ll be in business soon!

I never leave my arms uncovered and hate hate hate dresses that don’t reach my knees. I’d be your best customer if you designed a range of curve-friendly dresses with defined waists and knee-length skirts!

I love the red and blue netti dress, i have a problem with belts on me but i think is absolutely adorable in others, I like the shape of the dress a lot, is very flattering.

I have no animal print designed clothes, only one scarf with birds on it, i don’t know why, maybe because of what you mentioned about what we’re “supposed” to wear, my only rebellious attitude is to wear skinny jeans LOL But all in all i’m so basic and afraid of accessories and bold colours 🙁 I really hope you’ll have your clothing line one day because you inspire a lot of people and you would be thoughtful towards our need for flattering dresses and clothes that fit us well, according to different shapes. Bedroom Bondage KitsAll the best for you 🙂

I’m a plus size girl who is only just making the foray into colour after years of being in black and invisible. I would definately be interested in a pin up inspired line.

I may have to purchase the cat print dress, it’s glorious.

The cat print dress is the best one. Fits well in all spots and hangs well.

Absolutely stunning, and thanks for the bolero tip..have been after something just like this.

The blue dress is amazing on you 🙂

Absolutely interested!

I too would have been I’m baggy jeans & a Tshirt a few yrs ago & would never have had the confidence to dress like I do now. But after being really ill & then diagnosed with lupus I decided that life was too short & I didn’t care what anybody thought & would wear whatever I fancied!

Those dresses are so gorgeous & very very tempting. Makes we want to spend my Vw camper budget on them! Problem is my Vw is off the road more than on lately!

I consider myself a bit of an expert on UK plus-size vintage-style dresses and would defo support you if you could do it affordably! I pretty much stick to the same silhouette as you as it’s always flattering: fitted waist is a must, preferably knee-length and sleeves or at least thickish straps…http://ellomennopee.blogspot.co.uk/

You are simply gorgeous! You inspire me to be more comfortable in my body. I’m getting there. Some days are easy and some r a bitch. But I’ll get there.

It would be really good to get more UK based clothes for big booby ladies! I love a lot of the stuff on websites like pin up clothing but the cost of shipping and the thought of items not fitting/bother of returns usually makes me hesitate before buying! I would definitely be interested!

I quite enjoy flashing some clevage when I go out, but it would be lovely to have dresses which are not too low cut but then not ridiculously high either. Basically something I can wear when out with my daughter and don’t have to worry about popping out when I bend down to talk to her or looking like I am trying to cover up my clevage…a difficult neck line to find!

And a wide range of boleros too!

Omg! You my dear are beautiful and wear these clothes/dresses soooo well.

Now.. I need your confidence and shapeware…

Vary random question, but what bra would you recommend with the zooey dress? Floggers wear my zooey because I can’t seem to get my girls to sit right in there! I’ve tried strapless and strapped, as I too am rarely without bolero but id like to wear it properly and haven’t known anyone who has this dress!!

I changed the straps to a non cross back and it worked x
